Brooke Rabatou sends Spectre (V13/8B)

Brooke Raboutou has secured the second female ascent of Spectre (V13/8B) in The Buttermilks near Bishop, California. Originally put up by Dave Graham in 2001, the boulder is notorious for its crux dyno—especially for shorter climbers who can’t utilize the toe cam beta available to taller ascensionists.

Previous senders Carlo Traversi and Katie Lamb, both forced to use the dyno method, described the move as one of the hardest they’ve done, suggesting the climb feels closer to hard 8B+ without the toe cam. At just 5’2″, Raboutou also committed to the powerful leap, making her ascent all the more impressive.

Beyond Spectre, Raboutou’s tick list includes multiple 8B+ ascents and the coveted Box Therapy (8C). A seasoned competition climber, she claimed silver at the Paris Olympics and has an extensive record of World Cup podiums. Always exciting to see her climb!
